Green Tea Vanilla Protein Shake

This shake is full of great nutrients and antioxidants! Plus, you can make it for breakfast in minutes. My daughter likes to put all the ingredients in a blender for me.
As for the benefits, let’s start with the green tea. Green tea is full of antioxidants and compounds that help maintain good health! Green tea’s antioxidants, called catechins or polyphenols, scavenge for free radicals that can damage DNA and contribute to cancer, blood clots, and atherosclerosis, , particularly coronary artery disease. Grapes and berries, red wine, and dark chocolate also have potent antioxidants.
Recommended amount: 2 – 3 cups of green tea per day (for a total of 240 – 320 mg polyphenols) or 100 – 750 mg per day of standardized green tea extract. Caffeine-free products are available and recommended.

I like the Sencha Shot Green Tea drink, which I purchase at Kowalski’s Market.  The ingredients are purified water, green tea, and vitamin C. It has approximately 40 mg of caffeine per can. It is an all-natural, unsweetened tea with no calories, no genetically modified ingredients, and no added flavors or colors. It contains 152 mg of tea antioxidants per 6.4 fl oz can–five times more than the average ready-to-drink green tea.

Avocados:  They provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a “nutrient booster” by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein, in foods that are eaten with the fruit. The avocado adds a nice smooth texture to the shake as well!

Bananas: One large banana contains about 602 mg of potassium. In addition, bananas contain .07 mg of Thiamine, .15 mg of Riboflavin, .82 mg Niacin, .88 mg vitamin B6, and 29 mcg of Folic Acid, 13.8 mg of vitamin C, 9.2 mg of Calcium, and 44.1 mg of Magnesium.
